​Sheng got his PhD in Bioinformatics from Institute of Theoretical Physics at Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. He was then a postdoc fellow at Toyota Technological Institute in Chicago during 2010 and 2014. During 2014 and 2017, he was a research professional at Department of Human Genetics at University of Chicago. Since March 2017, he joined the SFB group as a research scientist.
